New Castle County will NOT enforce the new rule which requires Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac to no longer be exempt from transfer taxes. Therefore, there is NO DEADLINE to purchase a home. They will continue to be exempt for now.
New Castle County will seek to get an opinion from the Delaware Courts to determine if they are legally allowed to charge Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac transfer taxes. The law may change in the future but for now we are in the clear until further notice!
